The Port of Gulfport Restoration Program has had many accomplishments during the first quarter of 2010. This communication contains a summary of those accomplishments as well as the latest news about the Port's restoration. In addition to this newsletter, please note that the Port provides a community update, which is revised monthly, on the Newsroom page of the PortoftheFuture.com website, so those who are interested in the Port's progress can closely follow it.

Procurement

In January, the Port released a Request for Qualifications proposal for Electrical Engineering Services, which closed on February 3. At its March 11 board meeting, the Mississippi State Port Authority (MSPA) Board of Commissioners approved the selection of Atwell and Gent, P.A., a Mississippi-based, full-service electrical engineering consulting firm headquartered in Starkville, as the Electrical Engineering Services provider.

Community Support

Almost 40 organizations have issued letters or resolutions of support for the MSPA's revitalization plan. The following entities recently endorsed the restoration plan:

Cammie Bullock Named Administrative Assistant for MSPA Disaster Recovery


The MSPA Disaster Recovery Division staff recently welcomed Cammie Bullock as administrative assistant. Cammie holds a Bachelors of Business Administration degree from Mississippi State University with an emphasis in marketing.

Six months after Hurricane Katrina, Cammie joined relief efforts in Bay St. Louis by working for Lagniappe Church, an organization that facilitated rebuilding homes and restoring lives. She served as the church’s volunteer coordinator, with oversight of travel and communication for more than 10,000 volunteers from across the globe.

Cammie is married to Derek Bullock of Gulfport, and they have a four-year old daughter, Kate Taylor. Cammie enjoys playing piano, working as a freelance makeup artist, spending time on the water in the sunshine and making pretend cupcakes with Kate Taylor.

Construction Progress Report

Since July 2009 when the MSPA commemorated the beginning of its 60-acre fill construction project, 726,941 cubic yards of fill have been delivered to the Port’s West Pier.
